Expositiones Missae in MS Corbie 230: Three commentaries on the Mass in a Carolingian pastoral compendium

Abstract

This thesis will focus on a single manuscript that contains three commentaries on the celebration of the Mass. Its main concern will be to understand what the three Mass commentaries in the late ninth-century manuscript Corbie 230 can tell us about the use of the Expositiones Missae in pastoral compendia and how that reflects on the study of the education of the clergy in the Carolingian period.
