Abstract

This research investigates employee attitudes at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine towards workplace pets, particularly focusing on dogs. The literature review underscores positive impacts like enhanced work atmosphere and stress reduction, while also acknowledging practical and cost-related drawbacks. With a scarcity of Veterinary-specific studies and minimal attention to tenure and remote work factors, this study addresses these gaps. A literature review and a survey of 323 participants, results show a range of opinions, predominantly favoring dogs in the workplace. Influential factors encompass work locations, gender, age, and job groups. These findings offer valuable insights into the dynamics of introducing pets to a Veterinary Medicine faculty.
