Abstract

This thesis discovers the way in which Dutch Homosexual Muslims (DHM) shape and perceive their Muslim, gay and Muslim-gay identities. After a discussion about gender, identity and the Qur'anic exegeses of the story of Lut, there was room for the life stories of eight DHM. Even though their stories seemed very different, there were three phases all respondents went through: noticing they are different, denial of gay identity and, finally, acceptance. This corresponds with research done by Yip (2004, 2005) and Ganzevoort et. al. (2010).
