Abstract
Young adult dystopian literature has become increasingly popular in the past few years, but they are very different from the classics such as 1984 by George Orwell. There are some who believe that young adult literature has transformed the dystopian genre into a degraded form. This thesis will determine whether this is the case by comparing a classic dystopian novel with a young adult dystopian novel. The two novels used are Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
