Abstract
This thesis explores the specifics of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing style and his singular type of mystery stories and the difficulties encountered when trying to translate these into Dutch. A translation of a part of one of his most popular stories is provided with footnotes to explain certain translation-related decisions made in the process.
