“THUS PLAY I IN ONE PERSON MANY PEOPLE”: Using Total Physical Response to Discuss Gender in Shakespeare’s Richard II in Dutch EFL Classrooms

Abstract

This thesis discusses the use of the Total Physical Response method, a language acquisition method, to discuss the theme of gender in William Shakespeare's history play Richard II. It provides a series of seven lessons and a teacher's guide that can be used for Dutch 5VWO students.
