Abstract

With the more decentralised energy production and reduced hierarchy of a smart grid as opposed to the traditional grid, the spatial distribution of supply and demand within the smart grid places high demands on information management regarding geodata. The smart grid allows the electricity company for better load management, analysis of energy consumption, prevention of supply breakdowns and minimize energy losses. These functions require locational data to be georeferenced.
