Abstract
In Brazil, cattle ranches form the largest cause of deforestation activities. My research paper aimed at analysing the effects of cattle ranching on biodiversity in the Brazilian rain forest. I looked at several aspects of deforestation that affect biodiversity: forest fragmentation, edge-forest effects, changes in microclimate conditions and nutrients, and alternating species interactions. For management, I advised that for preserving or regaining biodiversity, management should have a holistic approach, aiming at existing forest, pastures, and abandoned lands.
